Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist: Sumptuous on Saturday Supplier Spotlight with Samantha Kibbler

Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist - Samantha Kibbler

Today’s Sumptuous on Saturday post is with one of our East Midlands Wedding Make-up Suppliers Samantha Kibbler. Samantha is a highly talented Northamptonshire wedding make-up artist who was trained at the Greasepaint School of Make-Up in London. Samantha specialises in airbrushing which leaves a flawless look, perfect for Brides.

We caught up with Samantha for a chat about why she loves being a Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist…

Being married myself, I can remember every detail of organising the wedding and how much fun and excitement there is leading up to the big day. I can almost re-live this with the brides I meet, and I love to see that final day come when the bride is ready in her dress with her hair & make-up complete, it’s just the best feeling.

Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist Samantha Kibbler

I love meeting new people and enjoy every aspect of the job whatever it may entail. Making people look and feel special is what any make-up artist strives to achieve in their career.

In May 2013 I had a large wedding booked with make-up for the Bride, five bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom. I had just finished the Brides’ make-up when the bridesmaids returned from the hairdressers. Within an hour of them getting dressed, the bridesmaids’ hair had started to come loose from their hair style and their curls were dropping out.
Upon seeing this, as you can imagine the bride was very upset;  I was on time with all the make-ups and as I always carry various hair tongs and plenty of hairspray, I was able to rescue the bridesmaids hair, and subsequently relieve some of the stress on the bride, which was a massive relief!

In terms of trends, the Vintage vibe seems to be very popular; I have noticed that brides are looking up to the celebrity image that they portray at award shows, so the hair and make-up is more red carpet than the more traditional bridal look of the past.

Northamptonshire Wedding Make-Up Artist Samantha Kibbler

The best advice I can give to a Bride to Be, is to not change your daily skin care routine before the wedding day. For most ladies, it takes a period of time for the skin to adjust to a new care routine, this is not the time to experiment just before your big day!

When I am not working as a Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist, I am a full time mummy to my little boy who will be three in march I also run a small handbag business with my sister in-law, H&S Handbags.

It’s lovely to get to know you better Samantha – thanks for sharing your wedding make-up background and tips with us today 🙂 Samantha offers Bridal Make-up for £60 wedding make-up trials for £35.

Sumptuous on Saturday with Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer Whiteline

Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer: Whiteline Photography

Today’s Sumptuous on Saturday post is with Whiteline Photography – one of our favourite Northern Ireland Wedding Photographers. Owner, Anne McCullough talks us through her love of all things wedding!

What is your favourite thing about working with Brides to Be as a Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer?

I have always loved working with Brides to Be because of their sheer excitement about planning the biggest day of their lives.  With their fresh enthusiasm, they are always full of ideas of how to make their wedding day personal to them.  Every day is different working as a Wedding Photographer and Brides to Be make the job a pleasure to do.

Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer: Whiteline Photography

What inspires you in your work?

The force that drives me in my work is to make sure all of my customer’s expectations are exceeded.  Their happiness is my goal, so my inspiration comes from the Bride and Groom themselves, as they explain their hopes, ideas and the desired outcome of their Wedding Day.

Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer: Whiteline Photography

What has been your favourite wedding that you have worked on?

I can’t say I have a favourite, as everyone’s Big Day is as individual and different as each couple, with so many wonderful elements.  One wedding that sticks out in my mind was one held in the summer of 2013 at Mount Stewart, it was such a beautiful setting and the atmosphere was brilliant with a huge tipi set up on the lawns, a band playing and a champagne drinks reception.  It was the whole setting that made it a memorable success.

Do you have any wedding trend predictions for weddings for 2014?

I think more and more Brides and Grooms are bargain hunting when it comes to booking suppliers for their Wedding Day because of the financial climate that we currently live in.   I believe this will happen even more so in 2014.  I feel that I offer packages that cater extremely well to those that are seeking better value for their money.  Some would think that the less you pay, you are more likely to get bad service and an even worse product.  All you have to do is look at my work and realise that with booking with Whiteline Photography this is certainly not the case.

What would be your top tip to share with Brides to Be?

A big tip for Brides to Be is to relax.  I meet so many brides who are stressed out from all the preparation and planning that they forget to enjoy the most important day of their lives. The whole day goes so fast, so it is important to take time and enjoy everything that is going on around you.

When you’re not busy working as a Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer at Whiteline Photography what is your favourite pastime?

I love walking and swimming, but I am getting married myself this August, so any spare time I have is being spent organising my own Big Day.  It is a great experience knowing exactly what all my Brides to Be are going through, so I certainly have a bit more knowledge of what is involved in the whole planning process.  It is also brilliant passing on tips and recommendations and vice versa.

Lovely chatting with you Anne and look forward to showing off some of the lovely weddings that you have shot on these pages soon!

Valentines Day Lingerie Offer

Valentines Day Underwear

If like me, you love treating yourself to the occasional luxury of some beautiful new lingerie, you are going to love this! Debenhams have got a special 15% off sale running on their rather gorgeous designer lingerie between now and Valentines Day 🙂

I love these Valentines Day Lingerie pieces as they come in at very reasonable prices with a bra from Frost French starting from around £14 in the sale and some very alluring boudoir underwear from Janet Reger like the gorgeous embroidered corset which is under £30.

It's a great opportunity to have a little spending spree whilst keeping a tight handle on your budget! For the same reason that I love shopping in designer outlets and TK Maxx, there is something very satisfying about buying something that is wonderful quality but without the completely unjustifiable price tag.

If you’re looking for more of a Valentines night snuggle with your beau, then there are some really super cosy looking fleecy socks and super cute checked pyjama bottoms.

Snuggle Sock

Whether you’re going for snuggle time or full on flirt time, this is a great place to shop for something that is kind of a Valentines Day Lingerie present for your beau… but also a nice little present to yourself as well 😀

Have fun!

Sumptuous on Saturday – Meet Voyager UK Chauffeurs

Voyager Wedding Cars

Every week, we get the pleasure of chatting with one of our awesome trusted wedding suppliers on our Sumptuous on Saturday regular feature. Our Suppliers are excellent quality and great value for money, so here’s your opportunity to learn a bit more about them!

Today, we’re hearing from the folks at Voyager Travel who you will also be able to meet with in person and see the cars up close at our Budget Bride Live Wedding Fairs running in February.

So tell us, what’s your favourite thing about working with Brides to Be?

Working with Brides to be is a different situation for every wedding, however, being given the opportunity to be a part of such a special day is a truly memorable event. From the initial 'nervous' contact when they are entering the unknown, to the end of the big day, every moment is memorable.

What inspires you in your work?

Voyager Wedding Cars started when we noticed that brides to be were only being given a 'classic car' option for their wedding day. Voyager started providing modern Mercedes and Chrysler cars and we were inspired by the true volume of business that has been created. Seeing happy couples getting married and receiving fantastic feedback is just one of many reasons that Voyager Wedding Cars will continue to provide it's services for many years to come.

What has been your favourite wedding that you have worked on?

I am not sure there is a 'favourite' wedding as they all have unique moments in their own way. We have been a part of many memorable weddings including one where the bride's cousin arrived from Australia as a complete surprise to the bride until she spotted her sitting in the church!

Voyager Wedding Chauffeurs

Do you have any wedding trend predictions for weddings for 2014?

Although we know the occasional bride chooses a variety of colours for the cars to be dressed in, cream and ivory is still a very popular choice. We believe the trend will be modern cars with a classic ivory ribbon and bow.

Voyager Wedding Cars

What would be your top tip to share with Brides to Be?

Stay calm from the moment you begin planning your wedding onwards. When the big day finally arrives, enjoy every moment as it will pass by so quickly and afterwards you will wonder why you spent so many months worrying!

When you’re not busy driving wedding cars, what is your favourite pastime?

Spending valuable time with the family, family holidays and socialising with good friends.

Thank you, Team Voyager! It's been lovely getting to know you a little better 🙂

So, Brides – tell us: have you got any special plans for your wedding transport yet? Let us know in the Comments box below, or join the conversation over on Facebook!

Supplier Spotlight – High Times

High Times offer Wedding Planning packages from £95 as well as a fantastic array of Wedding Entertainment  and Wedding Photography packages. High Times can be found in our East Midlands Wedding Planning and Entertainment Categories and you can also meet Emma, the lady behind High Times, in person at our Budget Bride Live Events in the East Midlands area.

We caught up with Emma to find out a bit more about her work in the wedding industry…

What is your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?

I love organising and I love art, photography, history of art, interior design and this is the only job I know if that allows me to indulge in all of my loves and get paid for it!  The wedding industry is also full of small cottage industries so there is a real team work attitude to suppliers when working on a wedding and I have many friends now who have other wedding related businesses.  We all get together at Christmas for our own Christmas parties!!

What inspires you in your work?

At the end of every wedding, knowing that you’ve been part of such an amazing day in a couple’s life…cliché, I know, but it is as simple as that!

What has been your favourite wedding that you have ever worked on?

Too many to mention as there have been so many weddings which had small/large elements which I just thought where fantastic… But saying that, there was one wedding where the couple were really quite young but the groom had done an amazingly thought out proposal and this had been very much part of the wedding.  The bride was American, so you can imagine there was so much detail and wedding ideas not even over here at the time.  Plus the couple were just so lovely!

Do you have any trend predictions for weddings going into 2014?

Whatever it is, it will have been popular in the US the previous year!  Colour-wise, bright colours are going to be trending which I think is a reaction to all the pastels and vintage style of recent years.  Quirky weddings are also going to be popular either with unusual venues, over the top floral arrangements, coloured bridal shoes and personalised cake toppers…

What would be your best tip to Brides to Be to keep their weddings on budget?

Firstly, put a list together of all the elements to a wedding – venue, dress, stationary, flowers, cake, entertainment, etc – and order them according to how important that part is to your day.  Spend the budget you do have on the most important elements to you.  Then put it all into a spread sheet and stick to it!!  I’m happy to forward a reliable spread sheet to anyone in need –  Also know your limits or your friend’s/family’s limits; if the entertainment is a really important part of the day, don’t rely on your friend who has DJ’d at the odd party to give you the evening you want.  Likewise, if you’ve always imagined an amazing sugar-crafted cake, if Auntie Beryl says she’ll make it, politely turn down the offer (unless of course she’s a professional cake maker!).

When you’re not busy planning weddings, what’s your favourite pastime?

I come from a family business and a family of entrepreneurs so to be honest, I enjoy looking at new business opportunities in the wedding industry and expanding High Times in my ‘spare’ time.  But my main pastime is scuba diving!  My boyfriend and I pretty much live for the next diving holiday abroad or a weekend away in the UK!  It’s a great pastime to enjoy with friends and there is a group of about 10 of us who regularly get together for breaks and holidays.  The après-dive, much like après-ski, is also a big draw to the diving pastime!

Thanks very much for sharing with us Emma, it sounds like you have your dream job! If you would like to get in touch with Emma to assist you with your wedding planning, entertainment or photography, head over to High Times pronto!
