Claire’s Sweet Temptations – Budget Wedding Cakes: Sumptuous on Saturday Supplier Spotlight

Claires Sweet Temptations 2

This week we were really chuffed to welcome Claire’s Sweet Temptations who are based in Bude, Cornwall, to The Budget Bride Company Budget Wedding Supplier Directory.

Claire create gorgeous bespoke budget wedding cakes at off the shelf prices, produced to your exact requirements, and just because she really is a lovely lady, Claire is offering all Budget Bride Company readers a 15% discount on her cakes 🙂

We had a chat with Claire to find out more…

Tell us your favourite thing about working with brides to be?

It's such a special time - such excitement, and it's great to be a part of that. It's also a huge privilege to be a part of someone's special day.

What inspires you in your work?

Anything and everything! Sometimes very random things like a pattern on fabric or colour combinations. A dress, or even a hat! Ideas can just pop up, so I like to keep a notebook to jot my thoughts down in.

What has been your favourite wedding that you have worked on so far?

I did a 200 cupcake tower last summer - covered in purple butterflies, with a giant cupcake at the top. That was great fun, and a huge success apparently! Getting feedback from the Brides is always nice.

Claires Sweet Temptations 1

What are your wedding trend predictions for the rest of 2014 and going into 2015?

There are always so many trends in the mix. Fabric effect flowers are very popular right now, especially in neutral colours. Hand painting on cakes is getting more and more popular too. Then there are things like edible gelatine sequins to add extra sparkle which will definitely be popular.

What would your top tip be to share with Brides to Be?

Don't be afraid to be creative. There are endless possibilities in wedding cake these days! And remember it’s your day and your cake. So make sure you have exactly  what you've always dreamed of.

When you're not busy working at Claire's Sweet Temptations, what is your favourite pastime?

I love travelling. I've been very lucky and travelled a lot, but still want to go so many places!

You can find out more about the gorgeous cakes that Claire can create for your wedding on her Facebook page and on her website here – or get in touch directly to discuss your budget wedding cake requirements on 07816288626 or by Email on clairelpotts@gmail.com

Sumptuous on Saturday with BHS Wedding

The BHS Wedding Department has long been a favourite of ours at The Budget Bride Company. With gorgeous wedding dresses, lovely bridesmaid and pageboy outfits and an amazing array of accessories to choose from, it makes a wonderful one stop shop for your wedding when you’re keeping to a tight budget.

When I was a Bridesmaid for my BFF Kim last year, I wore a BHS bridesmaid dress (similar to this one) in a gorgeous purple shade which fitted with her wedding theme perfectly. It was floor length and the cut felt incredibly luxurious – fitted enough to make a flattering silhouette, but not so pinched in that I couldn’t relax and just enjoy the day.
From experience, I know that you guys – our gorgeous readers – are big fans of the range at BHS, so I thought today would be a nice opportunity to showcase some of my favourites from their wedding collection – happy browsing!

BHS Waistocoat Purple

I know that Cadbury Purple is such a huge colour theme choice for you guys at the moment – and I can understand why! It gives a lovely depth of colour to your day and has such a luxiouious feel. I couldn’t resist adding in this Waistcoat which would be a lovely way to pull the colour theme into your Groomsmen's outfits. An absoloute snip at £25.

BHS Mother of the Bride Hat
Here’s one for your Mums! I love that this pretty hat is £25 – it would make a gorgeous elegant finishing touch to the wedding outfit for maybe yours or your Beau’s Mum!

BHS Veil

This Cathedral Veil is beautiful, flowing, and priced at £40. It is a real statement piece, elegantly trailing down to the floor behind you – love the drama!

BHS Shoe

I love these ivory satin court shoes as they are just the right height to give you the feel of a heel, but not so scarily high that you know you are going to be tottering around with painful feet all day - nothing worse, right?! There are added cushioned insoles with memory foam padding, which I think sounds like the most blissful idea ever! Great value at £30.

BHS Bridesmaid Dress
This ivory organza bridesmaid dress is just too cute. The bow and diamante details will make your little bridesmaids or flower girl feel like a princess guaranteed. Currently on sale for £25 reduced from £50, snap it up whilst it’s still available! 

BHS Wedding Dress
This elegant ‘Hope’ wedding dress features a lovely fully boned bodice and lace back detail. The sweetheart neckline is glamorous and highly flattering whilst retaining a poised look due to the floor length silhouette. And the best bit? This ivory gown is priced at £395 - hooray! 

You can have a good old browse to check out all of the other gorgeous wedding options available from BHS on our Budget Bride Boutique – just pop ‘BHS Wedding’ into the Search Box within our Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid and Wedding Accessory Categories.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you next week!

Danielle Mobbs Budget Wedding Photography
We thought it would be a nice idea for you to get to know Danielle Mobbs Wedding Photography a little better and what better place than here on Sumptuous on Saturday 🙂

What is your favourite thing about working with Brides to Be?
It would have to be watching their amazing ideas and plans for their special day come to life - right from the initial consultation through to the big day itself. Each and every couple and their wedding are unique and to be able to be a part of the whole process is fantastic.
What inspires you in your work?
One of my favourite quotes has to be from Ansel Adams. "You don't make a photograph with just a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard and the people you have loved". My sources of inspiration are endless. I love trawling through fashion magazines and Pinterest, the paintings of Edgar Degas and the Hollywood photographers of old. Yet most importantly, I'm truly inspired by my clients and their wonderful ideas for their big day. My aim is to capture each and every moment as the day unfolds and to create fine art imagery that is a true reflection of their individual personalities.

Danielle Mobbs Budget Wedding Photography
What has been your favourite wedding that you have worked on?

Of course each and every wedding I do is unique and special in its own way. Although I do absolutely love it when clients surprise me with a non-traditional theme - the quirkier the better!
Do you have any wedding trend predictions for weddings for 2014?
It's a bit of an obvious one however; I definitely believe that, with regards to bridal couture, lace is still going strong. It is something that is so timeless and elegant, and ever since the Royal Wedding, has been immensely popular. In fact, vintage 20’s and 30’s influences in general are still proving popular for every aspect of a wedding. I also think that the DIY/up-cycling approach is becoming more favourable - I find it great when a Bride has produced her own table décor, wedding favours or stationary and takes great pride in it. Not only can it save a few pennies but it also allows their personality to shine through.

Danielle Mobbs Budget Wedding Photography
What would be your top tip to share with Brides to Be?
Understandably I'm a teeny bit biased... but I would whole-heartedly recommend budgeting for a professional photographer - someone who you click with (excuse the pun!), whose style you love and someone who will make you feel 100% comfortable and at ease on the day. After months, even years of planning, when your special day finally arrives it will go by in a whirlwind. However, once the day is over, you will have photographs to cherish and reminisce over for a lifetime.

Danielle Mobbs Budget Wedding Photography
When you’re not busy photographing weddings, what is your favourite pastime?
Traveling, painting and reading - lots of reading!

You can find out more about Danielle Mobbs Wedding Photography and her brilliant wedding photography packages which start from £650 on her website here.

We had a catch up with Nicki to find out more about Heavenly Delight...

What is your favourite thing about working with Brides to Be?
It’s so lovely to be able to help inspire brides in making their day that extra bit more special. Seeing the excitement on their faces as they envisage their special day coming into reality is such a privilege.

Heavenly Delight Flower Spray Cake Toppers

What inspires you in your work?
I love helping people find ways of making their dreams come true, that extra special touch. Giving them inspiration of how to reach their goals and keep their costs to a minimum.

What has been your favourite wedding that you have worked on?
It was actually my own wedding; we spent a total of £12,000 but had a wedding that wowed our guests who thought we had spent £40,000.

Do you have any wedding trend predictions for weddings for 2014?
I think our wonderful brides to be are getting hands on for 2014. By making those important Save the Date cards, Invitations and Order of Service yourself can save you a packet, and something the bridesmaids will enjoy helping you with giving you a wonderful celebration of achievement.

What would be your top tip to share with Brides to Be?
We all want the Wedding of our dreams, but not the costs. Here at Heavenly Delight that is our aim to help people achieve this. Make your invitations etc. and have fun making your own table centre pieces for your tables. It brings out your personality into your day. How about getting a friend or loved one to make your cake, or purchase a plain one from Marks & Spencer’s, then putting on one of our hand crafted sugar flower sprays to transform the cake into something specular. Cutting costs down in these areas can then allow you to elaborate those “really would love” items, for example the Candy Cart or those sparkly top table back drops.

Heavenly Delight Favours

When you’re not busy working at Heavenly Delight what is your favourite pastime?
I love spending time with my family and helping out at the local school with fundraising ideas. One of my passions is singing. I recently released an album entitled “The Journey” all the songs are written and sung by myself and this album is helping to raise funds for Children’s Heart Charities. The album is available on itunes and amazon.com but also in hard copy from myself via www.nickidaniel.co.uk

You can find out more about Heavenly Delight at http://www.heavenlydelight.co.uk/ And they currently have a special offer for Budget Bride Company readers a half price secure the date booking fee. Quote BB1 at time of booking.  You can also spread the cost with a monthly payment plan option 🙂

Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist: Sumptuous on Saturday Supplier Spotlight with Samantha Kibbler

Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist - Samantha Kibbler

Today’s Sumptuous on Saturday post is with one of our East Midlands Wedding Make-up Suppliers Samantha Kibbler. Samantha is a highly talented Northamptonshire wedding make-up artist who was trained at the Greasepaint School of Make-Up in London. Samantha specialises in airbrushing which leaves a flawless look, perfect for Brides.

We caught up with Samantha for a chat about why she loves being a Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist…

Being married myself, I can remember every detail of organising the wedding and how much fun and excitement there is leading up to the big day. I can almost re-live this with the brides I meet, and I love to see that final day come when the bride is ready in her dress with her hair & make-up complete, it’s just the best feeling.

Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist Samantha Kibbler

I love meeting new people and enjoy every aspect of the job whatever it may entail. Making people look and feel special is what any make-up artist strives to achieve in their career.

In May 2013 I had a large wedding booked with make-up for the Bride, five bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom. I had just finished the Brides’ make-up when the bridesmaids returned from the hairdressers. Within an hour of them getting dressed, the bridesmaids’ hair had started to come loose from their hair style and their curls were dropping out.
Upon seeing this, as you can imagine the bride was very upset;  I was on time with all the make-ups and as I always carry various hair tongs and plenty of hairspray, I was able to rescue the bridesmaids hair, and subsequently relieve some of the stress on the bride, which was a massive relief!

In terms of trends, the Vintage vibe seems to be very popular; I have noticed that brides are looking up to the celebrity image that they portray at award shows, so the hair and make-up is more red carpet than the more traditional bridal look of the past.

Northamptonshire Wedding Make-Up Artist Samantha Kibbler

The best advice I can give to a Bride to Be, is to not change your daily skin care routine before the wedding day. For most ladies, it takes a period of time for the skin to adjust to a new care routine, this is not the time to experiment just before your big day!

When I am not working as a Northamptonshire Wedding Make-up Artist, I am a full time mummy to my little boy who will be three in march I also run a small handbag business with my sister in-law, H&S Handbags.

It’s lovely to get to know you better Samantha – thanks for sharing your wedding make-up background and tips with us today 🙂 Samantha offers Bridal Make-up for £60 wedding make-up trials for £35.

Sumptuous on Saturday with Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer Whiteline

Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer: Whiteline Photography

Today’s Sumptuous on Saturday post is with Whiteline Photography – one of our favourite Northern Ireland Wedding Photographers. Owner, Anne McCullough talks us through her love of all things wedding!

What is your favourite thing about working with Brides to Be as a Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer?

I have always loved working with Brides to Be because of their sheer excitement about planning the biggest day of their lives.  With their fresh enthusiasm, they are always full of ideas of how to make their wedding day personal to them.  Every day is different working as a Wedding Photographer and Brides to Be make the job a pleasure to do.

Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer: Whiteline Photography

What inspires you in your work?

The force that drives me in my work is to make sure all of my customer’s expectations are exceeded.  Their happiness is my goal, so my inspiration comes from the Bride and Groom themselves, as they explain their hopes, ideas and the desired outcome of their Wedding Day.

Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer: Whiteline Photography

What has been your favourite wedding that you have worked on?

I can’t say I have a favourite, as everyone’s Big Day is as individual and different as each couple, with so many wonderful elements.  One wedding that sticks out in my mind was one held in the summer of 2013 at Mount Stewart, it was such a beautiful setting and the atmosphere was brilliant with a huge tipi set up on the lawns, a band playing and a champagne drinks reception.  It was the whole setting that made it a memorable success.

Do you have any wedding trend predictions for weddings for 2014?

I think more and more Brides and Grooms are bargain hunting when it comes to booking suppliers for their Wedding Day because of the financial climate that we currently live in.   I believe this will happen even more so in 2014.  I feel that I offer packages that cater extremely well to those that are seeking better value for their money.  Some would think that the less you pay, you are more likely to get bad service and an even worse product.  All you have to do is look at my work and realise that with booking with Whiteline Photography this is certainly not the case.

INSERT WHITELINE 1

What would be your top tip to share with Brides to Be?

A big tip for Brides to Be is to relax.  I meet so many brides who are stressed out from all the preparation and planning that they forget to enjoy the most important day of their lives. The whole day goes so fast, so it is important to take time and enjoy everything that is going on around you.

When you’re not busy working as a Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer at Whiteline Photography what is your favourite pastime?

I love walking and swimming, but I am getting married myself this August, so any spare time I have is being spent organising my own Big Day.  It is a great experience knowing exactly what all my Brides to Be are going through, so I certainly have a bit more knowledge of what is involved in the whole planning process.  It is also brilliant passing on tips and recommendations and vice versa.

Lovely chatting with you Anne and look forward to showing off some of the lovely weddings that you have shot on these pages soon!

Sumptuous on Saturday – Meet Voyager UK Chauffeurs

Voyager Wedding Cars

Every week, we get the pleasure of chatting with one of our awesome trusted wedding suppliers on our Sumptuous on Saturday regular feature. Our Suppliers are excellent quality and great value for money, so here’s your opportunity to learn a bit more about them!

Today, we’re hearing from the folks at Voyager Travel who you will also be able to meet with in person and see the cars up close at our Budget Bride Live Wedding Fairs running in February.

So tell us, what’s your favourite thing about working with Brides to Be?

Working with Brides to be is a different situation for every wedding, however, being given the opportunity to be a part of such a special day is a truly memorable event. From the initial 'nervous' contact when they are entering the unknown, to the end of the big day, every moment is memorable.

What inspires you in your work?

Voyager Wedding Cars started when we noticed that brides to be were only being given a 'classic car' option for their wedding day. Voyager started providing modern Mercedes and Chrysler cars and we were inspired by the true volume of business that has been created. Seeing happy couples getting married and receiving fantastic feedback is just one of many reasons that Voyager Wedding Cars will continue to provide it's services for many years to come.

What has been your favourite wedding that you have worked on?

I am not sure there is a 'favourite' wedding as they all have unique moments in their own way. We have been a part of many memorable weddings including one where the bride's cousin arrived from Australia as a complete surprise to the bride until she spotted her sitting in the church!

Voyager Wedding Chauffeurs

Do you have any wedding trend predictions for weddings for 2014?

Although we know the occasional bride chooses a variety of colours for the cars to be dressed in, cream and ivory is still a very popular choice. We believe the trend will be modern cars with a classic ivory ribbon and bow.

Voyager Wedding Cars

What would be your top tip to share with Brides to Be?

Stay calm from the moment you begin planning your wedding onwards. When the big day finally arrives, enjoy every moment as it will pass by so quickly and afterwards you will wonder why you spent so many months worrying!

When you’re not busy driving wedding cars, what is your favourite pastime?

Spending valuable time with the family, family holidays and socialising with good friends.

Thank you, Team Voyager! It's been lovely getting to know you a little better 🙂

So, Brides – tell us: have you got any special plans for your wedding transport yet? Let us know in the Comments box below, or join the conversation over on Facebook!

Invitataion House Budget Wedding Stationery

We took five minutes with owner Jan, to find out more about the lady behind Invitation House…

What is your favourite thing about working with Brides to Be?

Sharing their excitement, once the invitations are printed it all becomes very real.

What inspires you in your work?

Being able to produce an invitation which is not only much more affordable than some of the leading high street suppliers but also much better quality.  The fact that in this day and age when most sites are automated with drop down menus and boxes we still use the old fashioned way of speaking directly to our customers about their requirements and discussing the different options.  We offer a totally personalised service.

Invitataion House 3

Do you have any wedding trend predictions for weddings for 2014 / 2015?

More couples are starting the American tradition of having a Rehearsal Dinner for the wedding party prior to the wedding day.

What would be your top tip to share with Brides to Be?

Always put an RSVP date so you don’t end up having to chase your guests for a reply to your invitation.

When you’re not busy working at Invitation House, what is your favourite pastime?

Spending time with my family.

Invitataion House 4

You can contact Invitations House by email on info@invitationhouse.co.uk or by phone on 01827 383966.

Sumptuous on Saturday… Quills Wedding Stationery

There is nothing we love more at The Budget Bride Company than meeting gorgeous wedding suppliers who offer their services at reasonable prices for brides on a budget. We are so pleased to introduce you to Quills Wedding Stationery, who create bespoke luxury wedding stationery to your exact requirements.

We had a chat with the lovely Sharon – the lady behind the designs, to find out a bit more…

So Sharon, what’s your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?

My favourite thing is the lovely people I get to meet!  Whether I am talking with the bridal couple about their plans for their special day or other suppliers in the wedding industry, everyone is so happy, positive and excited, it‘s a great industry to be able to work in.

What inspires you in your work?

I get a lot of inspiration from the couples I meet. They are energised by their wedding and eager to get everything just right. This motivates me to produce wedding stationery that reflects them as a couple - making it very personal and special to them. After all, it is one of the most important days if their lives!

What has been your favourite wedding stationery package that you have created?

My favourite wedding stationery package so far has been the one I designed and created for a couple who got married at Woburn Abbey. They wanted a collection with a ‘zoo park’ theme but it also had to be pretty and stylish. The invitation was created from white pearlised card and layered with a classy zebra print paper this was then wrapped in a beautiful fern green satin ribbon. To give the invitations that special look and feel, I embellished them with ‘Peridot’ Swarovski crystals, this added the wow! factor. For the wedding reception, I made table names named after wild African animals and the menus, place cards and table plan were created to co-ordinate with the rest of the collection. I must say that the reception stationery looked absolutely amazing set out in the Safari Lodge at Woburn Abbey!

Do you have any trend predictions for weddings for the rest of this year and going into 2014?

I predict three main trends for the rest of the year and 2014!

I am receiving enquiries regarding Wedding Stationery in the style of ‘Art Deco’. Brides love the elegance and sophistication of the 1920’s with its simple lines designed with an air of luxury. This classic style is back in vogue with the launch of the latest Leonardo Dicaprio film ‘The Great Gatsby’!  For colour schemes they are choosing are pastel colours with neutrals to accent, such as chocolate brown, or for the more dramatic choosing red, white and black. Ostrich feathers are being included in their bouquets and they are even hiring a singer or saxophone player whose repertoire includes the Blues, Ragtime and Jazz. I have suggested that to help keep costs down, CD’s could be purchased with all of the classical 1920’s music and played at the venue. For the menus, authentic 20′s dishes include Breast of Chicken a la Rose and the ever popular Waldorf salad. Bags of humbugs make excellent wedding favours for your guests!

Vintage is still in! I am now in the process of creating a collection using ivory pearlised card, lace and pearls. The bride wishes to have her invitations designed around her wedding dress with the theme carried through to her special day. She has asked for the menus, place cards and table plan to be created in the same design.  It would seem that this style is as popular as ever. Brides appear to love the ‘shabby chic’ style, old fashioned roses, peonies, vintage crockery and candy coloured bunting. I feel that this will continue well into 2014 and beyond!

Fun Fun Fun!!  More and more couples are coming away from the traditional wedding. They are looking at making their special day a fun time by using the Circus, Carnival or Fairground as inspiration for their wedding day. These themes are popular, mainly because they offer a more informal, natural and relaxed alternative to a traditional white wedding that some perceive as overly formal, staid and stuffy. Think of red and white striped tents, candy floss stalls, games, balloons, and photo booths. This is a theme which you can ‘go to town’ with, by using vibrant colour and breaking away from traditional white weddings which will help to keep costs down .

What would be your best tip to Brides to Be who are looking to choose their wedding stationery theme?

My best tip would be to remember that their Wedding Invitations are the first indication to their guests of the style or theme of the Wedding Day. This is where they will need to think about how much they wish to reveal about the day and what they want to keep as a surprise! The idea for their stationery collection should try to reflect the couples own personality and also the general style or theme for the day. When guests open the invitations their first thoughts should be “wow!  This is going to be a very special wedding day”.

When you’re not busy making beautiful bespoke stationery, what’s your favourite pastime?

I love Amateur Dramatics and stage work!  I like to sing and dance in my spare time and also help out backstage in producing costumes, scenery and props for local plays and musical productions. I guess I just like to be creative!!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and tips with us Sharon! Quills Wedding Stationery are specialists in creating bespoke collections that are unique to your wedding. Invitation prices start from £1.25 each. You can find out more on the website  www.quillsweddingstationery.co.uk or by emailing Sharon direct on sharon@quillsweddingstationery.co.uk or call for a chat on 01933 399739.

Hope you’ve enjoyed looking at this week’s Sumptuous on Saturday! It is possible for all brides to have a bit of lux on a budget…
